India - Part 1
I've been blessed with a chance to come to India for a business trip.
It is to help my colleague out with Visual Radio training. Wasn't supposed to come, but eventually i had the chance to come.
Been quite an eye-opener for me in India, in Mumbai to be exact.
Stayed at Intercontinental The Grand.
Reached at around 10+am, took a longer time than my colleagues at the immigration counter when entering India. Expected that, as my visa was a piece of paper. And you know what? That costed $200. So expensive rite? Am glad that I do not have to pay for it myself.
(Am asked to go apply for Singapore citizenship, but I need all the documents of my family members and my dad is not bad in Singapore yet... )
Anyway, really prayed that I could enter India, especially when I have travelled so far!
Praise God that they let me into India after a few questions and looking at my special visa!
And here I am in Mumbai, which was formerly called Bombay. (still referred by many as Bombay)
Yesterday, went to training at RM in the afternoon after a buffet lunch.
It was a long 1 hour car ride to the place. And took a local taxi for a 3 minutes drive, as the 1st driver dropped us off at the wrong place. Met the guy and gal that I exchanged many emails to about the templates creation that I was in charge of. Haha, wonder if I was whom they expect me to be. :P Anyway, technology is so good now that you actually work with people whom you have not seen before and meet them after a few months.
Then a possible client and wife took us out for dinner. Yes, that was another long car ride with lotsa jam and car hornings. They took us to a real vegetarian Indian restaurant. Was really quite cool! Some of the food was a bit too spicy for me but overall I liked it! In the end, ate some stuff that people eat when they left the restaurant. Also they bought this "paan" thingy (stuff wrapped in leaf), and every1 tried. It smelled funny so I wasn't too keen on trying but they bought it and encouraged the trying. I ate and found it yeeky, wanted to spit it out, then tot shldn't as it may be rude, but the lady said it is ok to spit it out since i dun like it, but then i tot shldn't, but she said it is ok again.. So finally I spitted it out. :P but the taste was still very strong in the mouth. Anyway, we went to washroom as need to wash our hands as the "paan" was sticky. Then rinsed mouth.
Went to window shopped abit, but things weren't cheap there. Charles & Keith was there, and a ladies shoes/sandals costed more ex than in Singapore. I think it is a branded good there. Giordano also sold bags there, I don't see that in Singapore tho. Tried this big round bubble gum (looked like xian1 dan1), haha! Then bought cookies from Cookie Man, cos the box looked cute plus we wanted to get stuff for our colleagues and friends. Then bought some potato chips and soft drinks. The nice lady carried the stuff for us and paid for us. And she also bought pickles, and 2 other kind of dried food for us. So nice and hospitable for her! Thumbs up to her!
So I enjoyed the 1st day alot. Very tired at nite plus had to go training again today so slept at 11pm.
Will tell you more about today, if I have the time. Not as interesting as yesterday tho.
Anyway, let me tell you that you are VERY blessed to be in Singapore!
Can't imagine life as a kid living on the streets or in the poorly made "houses" by the roads...
Can't imagine having to go thru the bad traffic everyday too.
Thank God that I am living in Singapore and have nice roads and facilities!
See ya soon! =)
